So happy!

Gratitude List 13/04/2018

I shared these thoughts last night. I am so grateful for the way I am changing. I think I’m currently happier than I ever have been. Even on the days where for whatever reason I’m feeling a little low, I can still look back at how far I’ve come and be happy. Where I was and where I am now is nothing short of miraculous. And to confirm, it is I that has changed. The world around me hasn’t changed. Life still throws it’s obstacles. I am still challenged by others. The same defects of character are available. The same temptations exist. I am so grateful that change is possible and that I have the choice to continue to do so. The following are just some of the changes I have made….

I have found honesty, open-mindedness and willingness. Without these change is near-on impossible.

I have surrounded myself with like-minded people. Friends for life whom I share similarities with. Friends who continuously educate, inspire and motivate me.

I have tried to lead my new way of living with friends and family who knew the old me. This is the new me, I’m proud of who I am and I’m fed up with wearing masks.

I am putting my time to good use. I know what is good for me and what is bad. It’s not easy but it’s a simple choice of change.

I try to live my life in the present. What matters most is now. Whatever I am doing, I need to as much as I can appreciate the current moment and not regret the past or fear the future. Presence is indeed a gift.

I have admitted my powerlessness. I have realised that I am not the director. I’m not always right. What I say doesn’t go. I am not high and mighty. I am a being. Unique for sure, but just a being. I am ready to be guided by my higher power.

I have gathered some tools to help me deal with the roller-coaster that life can be. This was done by applying myself to a simple program to the best of my ability. As a result my roller-coaster now resembles a under 5’s caterpillar ride and not the high-octane, high speed, looping, dipping, broken rickshaw, death trap that I personally designed.

I have found gratitude. These lists have opened my eyes for the firsttime in many years and is a major contributer to my happiness.

A relative newbie to gratitude. Starting each day with a gratitude list sets me up for the day. This small effort starts a domino effect of positive action and subsequent serenity.

  1. Keeping a gratitude list was one of the first things I was told to do when I started getting sober. I have to admit, there are days that are more difficult than others, but I see the wisdom behind doing them.

  2. Changing is a critical part of moving ahead with your personal destiny. It’s so easy to get accustomed to the way things are, whether good or bad, and just ride it out. But that won’t flesh out your experiences. That makes the assumption that the world will change around you, as you mentioned above. It’s when we change that new experiences, even of old routine things, present themselves and add to our lifelong education. Keep growing!

    1. Thank you for your comment…. Completely agree. This is a recent revelation to me but I’m so happy I’ve finally realised it. In the last year or so I’ve been having many revelations, revelations that are obvious to most people!

      1. It’s seriously not mandatory. Totally optional, and I’ll be honest…a bit time consuming. The blog I did was LONG…doesn’t have to be so complicated. If you have any questions, just let me know πŸ™‚
