Mine or His?

Gratitude List 03/11/2018

Something I pray for every morning, night and often in between is ‘the wisdom to know the difference.’ As I say the words I am primarily asking for guidance as to when to accept and when to use courage. I’m also asking for the wisdom in recognising when I’m under God’s will and when I’m under my own. Two evenings ago a thought came into my head. This thought led to some positive action. Where did this thought come from? I wasn’t thinking about anything related at the time, it just came out of the blue. Did it come from me? My subconscious? Did it come from God? Or was it a combination of all three. I will never know the answer, but what recovery has led me to believe, is that thought came from a greater power than me, a power I choose to call God.

Today I am grateful my wisdom is growing through prayer and meditation. Therefore, knowing or believing to know the difference is getting better too.

– I know it’s my self-will when I start concocting plans in my head on how to hide a truth.

– I know it was God’s will when I stopped gambling.

– I know it will be my self-will if I start again.

– I know it’s God’s will when I live life on life’s terms. I fit myself to it.

– I know it’s my self-will when my actions and behaviours are dictated by fear.

– I know it’s God’s will when I am calm and composed even when tested.

– I know it’s my self-will when I react with resentment, hate and anger.

– I k ow it’s God’s will when I have no interest in doing someone else’s inventory for them.

– I know it’s my self-will when I over indulge in junk food.

– I know it’s God’s will when I have the power and serenity to resist the urge to eat junk food.

– I know it’s my self-will when I have to justify something I have done.

– I know it was God’s will when I decided to give up caffeine.

– I know it was my self-will when I began to drink caffeine.

– I know it’s God’s will when I do something for others.

– I know it’s my self-will when I expect people to meet my expectations.

– I know it’s God’s will when I use gratitude and appreciate the things I have.
