Gratitude List 02/05/2019
Today I am grateful I am not alone and as a result I do not have to deal with everything by myself.
Today I am grateful I have a sponsor who I trust and respect in so many ways.
Today I am grateful for my sponsees who have no idea what their recovery and regular contact does for me.
Today I am grateful I have an abundance of like minded fellows, all of whom I feel comfortable opening up to.
Today I am grateful I have my girlfriend, who as a result of our honest relationship, is always willing to lend an understanding and supporting ear.
Today I am grateful to have a family, all of whom live close by. Again, my openness means I can reach out to them.
Today I am grateful to have friends outside the fellowship. There are a few special people I have known for a long time, true friends I can confide in.
Today I am grateful I have God in my life. A power greater than me who’s guidance and strength is always there if and when I seek it.
Today I am grateful I feel part of mankind. I see life all around me and feel connected to it. In truth, I’m never alone.
Today I am grateful I have what I have. I have felt what it’s like to have no one to turn to, no one to understand, no one to support, no one to guide, no one to believe in. I witness others struggling with the same feeling- there’s no outlet for them, if only they had what I have laid at my feet. I am truly blessed.

Yesterday I went to a dance festival where my daughter was participating. It was a beautiful evening and I can reflect on it with an abundance of gratitude.
Today I am grateful for all the participants from all the schools. Each group were amazing. The performances were very artistic. It was clear everyone had practiced hard.
Today I am grateful for the people that organised the event. There were tens of schools which meant hundreds of kids and even more (big kids) in terms of over-excited passionate family members :).
Today I am grateful for music and dance. Music in particular never fails to lift my spirits. Mixed with dance just makes it all the better. I need to watch events like this more often.
Today I am grateful they didn’t allow any photography which meant I could completely enjoy the moment. The happiness within my created memories far outweigh anything a photo or video can bring.
Today I’m grateful for my fun, loving, happy, vibrant daughter. She is an absolute blessing and I am very proud to be her father. God I love her smile!
Today I’m grateful for my girlfriend who joined me at the festival. She is without a doubt the best step-mum I can possibly dream of. I saw the pride in her eyes last night, it was very humbling.
Today I am grateful for my cramping cheeks from the constant smile on my face and my sore hands from all the clapping.

Today I am grateful for having my emotions back. At times, it was a bit overwhelming for me as I fought back the soppy dad tears.

One of my goals in recovery was and is to become a better father to my children.
Today I am grateful I spend less time with my phone in my hand when I’m in their company.

Gratitude List 28/01/2019
Yesterday we went out as a family to celebrate two birthdays. Today, my gratitude is based on the simple fact I can enjoy these special occasions.
Today I am grateful I was able to afford a couple of cards and a small gift each rather than turning up empty handed. Again.
Today I am grateful I showed responsibility and didn’t spend more than I could. I stayed within my means rather than feeling guilty and trying to make amends for previous years.
Today I am grateful I didn’t have to manipulate another to help out me out financially so I could pay my share of the food bill.
Today I am grateful I was present and taking in the friendship, love and atmosphere rather than thinking and wishing I was somewhere else.
Today I am grateful for my senses. I was able to see the happiness, hear the laughter, taste and smell the lovely food, and feel the love.
Today I am grateful I was truly happy, enjoying the moment and not having to hide my true emotions with a fake smile.
Today I am grateful I realise how lucky I am to have a family. Its a true blessing. I love them all so much. I am grateful that my illness didn’t ruin any of our relationships. Those that found out have been nothing but supportive and understanding.
