Gratitude List 06/05/2019

Today I am grateful to witness the kindness of one man taking the time to talk to a homeless guy on the train.

Today I am grateful for a beautiful walk in the park. Such a beautiful time of the year, made better by a brief appearance from the sun. (see pics below)

Today I am grateful to be able to pull on a coat when it started to rain. Such a simple thing I can easily take for granted.

Today I am grateful to read about two powerful stories of amends being made. Inspiring and beautiful to read.

Today I am grateful to witness a stunning sun rise. This time of the year, I am rarely up early enough.

Today I am grateful I didn’t overeat. I didn’t try anything different but the obsession wasn’t there – it had been lifted.

Today I am grateful for the simplest of abilities like reading, writing and speaking.

Today I am grateful for the happy and positive people I worked with. It made a huge difference to my day.

Today I am grateful for the tube and bus drivers who got me home early on this bank holiday morning.

Today I am grateful for Chris Hughton. 😉

Gratitude List 29/04/2019: Spirituality

Gratitude List 29/04/2019

Spirituality

I really struggled with the concept of spirituality. I wasn’t comfortable with it at all. For me it either resembled religion or flower power from the 60’s. I fully admit to my narrow-mindedness. To those who practiced it I reacted with resentment or humour.

Although I am now open and comfortable with going to mass or dancing round a beach fire, I have come to realise through recovery there are many ways I can add spirituality to my life.

Today I am grateful I can choose to be in touch with nature and the world – to feel part of mankind. Spirituality.

Today I am grateful I can choose to unite and selflessly serve the fellowship. Spirituality.

Today I am grateful I can choose to let go of expectation and instead practice gratitude. Spirituality.

Today I am grateful I can choose to pray and practice qualities like surrender, humility and thankfulness. Spirituality.

Today I am grateful I can choose to meditate and increase my ability to let go of my thoughts and give into mindfulness. Spirituality.

Today I am grateful I can choose to continuously practice spiritual principles like honesty, acceptance, tolerance and patience. Spirituality.

Today I am grateful I can choose to loosen the reigns, give up trying to control my life (and the lives of others) and believe in a power greater than I. Spirituality.

Today I am grateful I can choose to be open-minded towards religion and the common message. Spirituality.

Today I am grateful I can choose to show and share an abundance of love, kindness and forgiveness. Spirituality.

Today I am grateful I can choose to acknowledge the miracle of life within me and how life surrounds me wherever I go. Spirituality.

Gratitude List 10/03/2019

A combination of recovery, unity and service, along with the guidance from powers greater than I, have given me a completely new life. I still have to pinch myself. As a result, I get to experience so many positive emotions.

Sometimes I do forget. I forget where I’ve come from and these emotions come and go without me acknowledging them. Without me appreciating them. With life going on around me, it’s only natural. But today I am aware of them. Aware I am experiencing emotions my illness used to deny me.

Today I am grateful for love.

Today I am grateful for serenity.

Today I am grateful for happiness.

Today I am grateful for fun.

Today I am grateful for kindness.

Today I am grateful for humility.
